Eddy Rivas

Co-Lead Instructor

Eddy Rivas is a writer and combat sports / self defense instructor in Austin, TX. After falling in love with martial arts by way of Krav Maga in 2010 when he first started training, Eddy earned his black belt in the system in 2019 from internationally renowned Krav Maga Expert Alan Predolin, and his second degree black belt in 2024. He also underwent a personal fitness transformation, shedding north of 130 pounds — an accomplishment that gives him unique personal perspectives about health, exercise, and the power of movement. During this period, Eddy was also certified to instruct in Krav Maga by two separate international organizations, including Krav Maga 360 and Krav Maga Global under additional Krav Maga experts, one of which was Eyal Yanilov, the highest ranking Krav Maga practitioner in the world and student to founder Imi Lichtenfield.

In addition to his studies in Krav Maga, Eddy remains a passionate student of martial arts via MMA, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, holding a purple belt from Ramiro Leon, a black belt out of New Wave in Austin. He puts all of these toward a focus on practical self defense, and continues to pursue ongoing exposure to high-level self-defense concepts from experts such as Tim Kennedy with Sheepdog Response and Craig Douglas with ShivWorks. As an instructor, Eddy has been a Krav Maga teacher in Texas for the last 10 years, a jiu-jitsu coach, as well as a fitness coach and personal trainer with a Steel Mace certification.
