WOMEN’S SELF DEFENSE
TAUGHT BY VANESSA SWESNIK
TIMES: SAT @ NOON
The Women’s Self Defense workshop is a weekly class in Austin, Texas taught by ATX Tactics co-lead instructor Vanessa Swesnik, whose time in law enforcement reshaped her approach to self defense as well as the realities of what women face in violent encounters.
We believe a class like this is incredibly important to provide women in Austin a safe space to talk about and train self defense. Women of all ages and self defense experience are invited.
Each week will focus on the following goals:
Personal boundaries and safety: The first line of self defense is communicating personal and emotional boundaries -- we can practice and strategize for this
Physical self defense concepts: Defending against physical violations such as invading space, grabs, and chokes on the ground.
Building community: We want to create a supportive and open environment where women can learn from each other.
This class is free for members, and a reduced drop-in fee for any women in Austin, Texas who wish to stop by for a class. Your first is free!
